City of Melbourne is giving away $5 million in grants to small and medium businesses during the COVID 19 outbreak and we are here to help you with your application!

Okay, okay, government grants can sound pretty daunting but this one is EASY! It should take you around 30 minutes to complete (if you've had a coffee), perhaps 45 if you're still a bit snoozy but don't fret, we are here to help.
So who is eligible?
Is your business located in the following suburbs? Carlton, Docklands, East Melbourne, Kensington, Flemington, North Melbourne, Parkville, Port Melbourne, Southbank, South Yarra, West Melbourne or Melbourne?
If your business is located in one of the above, you're in luck! Proceed to the next step.

1. Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
2. Be a small to medium sized business (employ fewer than 50 full-time equivalent employees at the time of application, or up to 75 staff for hospitality and tourism sectors)
3. Be a small to medium sized non-profit organisation (employ fewer than 50 full-time equivalent employees at the time of application).
4. Able to demonstrate how the grant will help support your business or non-profit organisation in response to the impact of COVID-19.
All right let's get to it!
Number four is key. You need to express clearly how the outbreak of COVID-19 has affected your business! Now if you've experienced forced closure because of the outbreak, the loss in revenue will be pretty clear. But you need to be able to express why this has impacted your bottom line. And remember these guys are sticklers for grammar so feel free to type this out in Word and just copy and paste it back into the box. The answers are normally under 200 words so this won't take you very long, but the more information you give them, the better.
Another key tip is that they prefer you to use local businesses! This being said, try to allocate the money that you will spend to a quote/service or product from a local business.

It's important that while you're extremely busy and your business is pivoting, you still spend the time to market these new services and products! Otherwise, who is to know? AND... If you're simply hibernating, it's ALWAYS good to keep your audience updated and engaged with your brand.
